April promised Phil his life would be free of chores once she went part-time unless they required power tools, weighed > 50 lbs, or April was incapacitated. He hasn’t had a relaxing minute since.
The not-a-fixer-upper home was purchased nearly a year ago. “Just cosmetics” was the answer when asked, “Does it need much work?” That remains true, but these two have somehow decided to take on projects way beyond need.
Quite literally every wall has been painted. Fireplace brickwork, a new garage door with opener, replacing the light switches and plates and power outlets throughout the whole house, plumbing, a complete front yard overhaul (including
ripping up
all the grass and reseeding from scratch and removing an evergreen taller than the house itself) and ALL of it without any hired help. Whew. (Buying Derek pizza doesn’t count as hired help, right?) Of course they got trapped in the in-progress garage for a couple of hours, but that’s worth hundreds of bucks, no?
Now? Well, whoever carpeted this joint lazily left out the closets - which showed us that hard woods existed underneath! If you’ve been reading along, you’ll know April had knee surgery last week. Phil took the week off as well - to to provide and transport the gimp. And also rip up the carpets! He removed the subfloor beneath
and 3 trips to the dump later, we have hard wood floors! Now, nothing’s that easy. We have yet to sand, seal, fill nail holes, and place quarter-round. Plus, there’s 2 inches of space under each door now! (Recommendations?) They’re gonna look beautiful, and really wow the house out. Pics added to the Home Work album frequently. Check ‘em out!
